OCR Affirms Cuts at Ohio University
As we predicted back in April, OCR has rejected a petition challenging Ohio University's decision to cut four athletic teams earlier this year. The petitioners argued that OU's decision was discriminatory because more men's opportunities were cut than women's. We suggested that because women already received disproportionately fewer athletic opportunities, there was nothing discriminatory about OU's decision to seek balance in their athletic offerings, and it appears that OCR agrees.
