Tulsa Parents Settle Softball Suit
Last year, we noted that Oklahoma parents had sued the Ponca City Public Schools under Title IX, alleging discrimination against girls' sports evidenced by their sub-par softball facilities. The parties since resolved the suit via settlement that "calls for improvements to the district's softball field as well as upgrades in other areas, such as uniforms, equipment and locker-room facilities." This settlement was finalized recently by the federal district court, which also awarded attorneys fees to the plaintiffs.
