Happy Anniversary, Title IX!

Today marks the 35th anniversary of Title IX. It's hard to believe how much progress has been made since its passage, and how much is yet to be done. Happy Anniversary, Title IX -- here's hoping for many, many more years of paving the way for true gender equity in education.

yeah, happy anniversary title ix! thanks for being possibly the single most destructive force in the history of men's collegiate athletics. thanks to you members of the women's gymnastics or golf team get full ride scholarships despite a complete lack of interest in their sports, while baseball or soccer players who will one day compete at the highest level are forced to take partial or no scholarship. thanks to you people who have no business competing in collegiate athletics are given full ride scholarships while deserving athletes are left out in the cold. i mean seriously, didn't anyone have the brains to put football in its own category and THEN divide up the scholarships evenly. most football teams have 100 guys on scholarship, so that's 100 scholarships that HAVE to be given to women under title ix to even it out, even if the school doesn't have any decent women's sports programs. forget the fact that football is usually the only sport on campus that makes money (and pays for most of the other sports.) once again we see that the perfect is the enemy of the good.
